Lymph Support Protocol

Detox protocol

Lymph Support Protocol

A gentle, movement-first four weeks: one prep week, then three simple phases.

For healthy adults who want a structured month of daily movement and light self-care. It’s built from existing Vault entries and is about walking, slow breathing, light self-massage, dry brushing and simple habits that people use to feel less puffy and more energetic. It doesn’t treat, drain or remove any disease, infection or “toxin”, and it isn’t Clif’s own method or the SDM.

This page is the free overview. The full week-by-week Lymph Support protocol, with the self-massage and brushing steps, the linked entries and the stop signs, is in the Remedies Vault. See what’s in the Vault →

Is this protocol for you?

It suits:

  • Healthy adults who want a structured month of daily movement and light self-care.
  • People who’d like to learn the light self-massage and dry-brushing routines from the Vault’s Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Dry Brushing entries.

Skip it, or ask your doctor first, if you: have a blood clot or deep vein thrombosis now or recently, cellulitis or another skin infection, a fever, heart failure or other heart disease, kidney failure, or a recent stroke; have lymphoedema or are recovering from cancer surgery or radiation (use your lymphoedema therapist’s plan instead); are pregnant (only with your midwife’s or doctor’s OK); take blood thinners; have diabetes with numb feet, varicose veins, low blood pressure or kidney disease; are on a fluid restriction; or have any swelling you haven’t had checked. Not for children.

Call 911 if swelling comes with chest pain, trouble breathing, shortness of breath when lying flat or with activity, fainting, or coughing up blood. Get care the same day for swelling that starts suddenly without a clear cause, after an injury, or in one leg only (Mayo Clinic).

Prep week · Check, walk, learn the touch

Get any unexplained swelling or lymph nodes checked by a doctor first, start walking most days, drink water steadily, and learn how light the self-massage pressure is: just enough to stretch the skin.

Phase 1 (week 1) · Move and breathe

A daily brisk walk and a few slow, deep breaths morning and evening, with optional gentle rebounding if your balance allows.

Phase 2 (weeks 2–3) · Light massage and skin practices

Add light self-massage a few times a week and dry brushing before a shower, with optional warm baths, sauna or one traditional tea at a time.

Phase 3 (week 4) · Strength and maintenance

Add two muscle-strengthening days, as the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans suggest (Canada’s guidelines say the same), keep the walking and a few massage or brushing sessions a week, and decide which habits to keep.

Safety first

  • Some tiredness or a mild headache after massage is common; skin redness after brushing should fade quickly.
  • Stop and see a doctor for red, warm, painful skin or a fever.
  • See a doctor about lymph nodes that keep growing, stay swollen 2–4 weeks, feel hard or fixed, or come with fever, night sweats, weight loss or a lasting cough (Mayo Clinic).
  • None of these sensations proves anything is “draining” or “detoxing”.
